"Pie in the Sky" Yogini: Tamasic
It doesn't matter who you are or how balanced you perceive yourself to be, we all go through the levels of the Gunas as they are a part of the cycles of nature and the universe. We can not live without experiencing tamasic qualities: lethargy, ignorance, or doubt, to name a few; however, the physical structure of our body is also considered tamasic as well as qualities of stability and feeling grounded. When we sit in meditation (tamas or no movement), the goal is to ease the activity of the mind (Rajas), so that we may enter a state of balance (Sattva), to move towards a state of pure consciousness. Let go of trying to move through tamasic or rajasic behavior as they are essential qualities on the path to harmony, balance, equanimity and higher consciousness.

"Pie in the Sky" Yogini - Perfect is the Enemy of Good!
Voltaire, English poet during the 1700's originated the quote: "The best is the enemy of the good." To put it the way you know, well, best; "The Perfect is the enemy of good." The idea behind this quote is if we strive for perfection all the time it becomes the enemy. Instead, we can simply try our best - whatever that means to you. Perhaps to be best at what you know and maybe just the best...You!

"Pie in the Sky" Yogini - Success Quotes!
In yoga, success is simply being committed to roll out your mat. In life, it is simply being in the moment. These are some great motivating quotes for success!
- “Success means doing the best we can with what we have. Success is the doing, not the getting; in the trying, not the triumph. Success is a personal standard, reaching for the highest that is in us, becoming all that we can be.”
– Zig Ziglar - “Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.”
– Herman Cain - “Do not be embarrassed by your failures, learn from them and start again.”
– Richard Branson - “Success is simple. Do what’s right, the right way, at the right time.”
– Arnold H. Glasgow - “Victory is sweetest when you’ve known defeat.”
– Malcolm S. Forbes

"Pie in the Sky" Yogini - No Mud - No Lotus!
Ever hear the expression "No mud, No Lotus?"
The lotus flower grows up from the mud, emerging from the murk to bloom. In life’s terms, the work and toil and suffering that we put in are what yield the return, the reward. So, the next time you are avoiding an uncomfortable situation or conversation think - No Mud, No Lotus!

"Pie in the Sky" Yogini - Cardinal Newman
This is a great quote to ponder by Cardinal Newman.
"Nothing would be done at all if we waited until we could do it so well that no one could find fault with it."
How many times in life or on your yoga mat have you held back waiting for everything to be perfect?
You have to give credit to those who take the risk and put themselves out there even if they aren't perfect!
Ommmm...

"Pie in the Sky" Yogini - Put down the phone!
So, I saw this great quote:
Wow, how true is that. It's amazing to me how we have turned into a society that can't seem to operate without checking our phone every minute. Believe it or not I actually had a yoga student that released from her pose to check her text messages. Talk about stepping out of the moment.
Here's a test. See if you can go take a walk and NOT bring your phone with you. If you really feel you need your phone, then turn it off while you are walking. I guarantee you will discover a whole new perspective of your surrounding environment.
Live the moment everyone and leave the phone!
Ommmm!
