Words of Comfort & Inspiration

Words of Comfort & Inspiration

Greetings and Hope All Are Well,
Our local shore communities were hit hard from Hurricane Sandy. There are many without a home and simply left with the clothes on their back. Body Space Alignment has donated to the Red Cross and World Vision for those devastated by this storm. My company will continue to donate to the cause with each business consultation.
This week's newsletter contains some words of comfort from poets and master sages. May you all find solace in these words and be safe in the days to come.

Words of Comfort & Inspiration

'Say not in grief 'he is no more' but live in thankfulness that he was'
Hebrew proverb

'Yesterday is a memory, tomorrow is a mystery and today is a gift, which is why it is called the present'

'What the caterpillar perceives is the end, to the butterfly is just the beginning'

'Everything that has a beginning has an ending.  Make your peace with that and all will be well'
Buddist saying

Celtic Blessing
May the roads rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rain fall soft upon your fields
And, until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.
Anon

Time
Time is too slow for those who wait
Too swift for those who fear
Too long for those who grieve
Too short for those who rejoice
But, for those who love –
Time is eternity.

Prayer for Strength and Comfort
My Lord, if I may be walking through fields that are rough with grief and care, may I have the courage to continue on to the smooth pastures, where I may walk with comfort and peace. May I not let the weariness and sorrow that may come to my heart to-day dwarf my hope and enjoyment of the future. Amen.

If you're going through hell, keep going.  ~Winston Churchill

We have no right to ask when sorrow comes, "Why did this happen to me?" unless we ask the same question for every moment of happiness that comes our way.  ~Author Unknown

I know God will not give me anything I can't handle.  I just wish that He didn't trust me so much.  ~Mother Teresa

The only thing that overcomes hard luck is hard work.  ~Harry Golden

Yoga Tip:

Generate prana to all the chakras especially the crown chakra with headstand pose (Sirshana). Allow forearms with elbows to be shoulder width apart, interlace fingers and cradle the head on the floor supporting the back of the head with the hands. Press down into the elbows and forearms to lift shoulders away from ears, tuck toes under and lift hips into the air as you walk the feet toward head. Engage abdominal muscles and lift legs into the air and straighten legs to create a long line of energy from crown to tips of toes. You can modify this pose by with legs straight and feet remain on floor.

Feng Shui Tip:

The excessive water energy from Sandy has also heightened the water within creating fears. Ease this instability with a grounding effect. Increase the amount of earth around you. Hold some stones in your pocket, spend time in the earth directions (NE, SW) and root into the 1st chakra with standing poses in yoga and visualize a swirling red ball of energy in the pelvic area.

Improve Health and Radiance
Opening the Root Chakra

Greetings!
This week BSA discusses how to Improve Health and Radiance by grounding the root chakra. In yoga, there are 7 chakras or energy vortexes that we focus on in the body. By aligning these chakras we can improve health and radiance.
,
Improve Health and Radiance

In yoga, there are seven chakras, or energy vortexes that we focus on in the body. The root chakra known in Sanskrit as Muladhara, is located at the base of the spine. It consists of energy paths that extend downward like a root through the legs and feet, grounding you to the earth. By awakening this chakra you can improve your health and radiance as well as self-esteem and feelings of security.

Steps to Opening the Root Chakra:

Before you try to open any of the chakras it is best to get into a meditatiive state. The reason why is you are able to focus and concentrate better. You can sit down or lie down just as long as the spine is flat. Then you want to focus in on your breath for at least 15 minutes. Try to avoid judging yourself or the flow of your breath. Just let it flow naturally. Once you feel relaxed and your muscles appear to also be relaxed you can proceed to the opening of the root chakra.

Visualization

The color of this chakra is red. If you are not grounded then this chakra is likely closed and not functioning properly. To be grounded is to be really here and present, and to be unshakeable. To open this chakra place your hand just above the pelvic region and visualize a red flower that is closed. Slowly visualize a bright red light streaming into this area to energize it. Once it feels energized then imagine the red flower slowly opening. Take your time in the visualization process. Don't force or rush the meditation as that can only cause more issues when it comes to feeling secure in life.

Mantra And Hand Mudra
The sound vibration for the root chakra is LUM sometimes spelled LAM. Come to a seated position and rest the backs of your palms against your knees. Connect your index finger and thumb together (Gian Mudra) on both hands and close your eyes. Imagine a familiar tree and you become that tree. Allow your torso to be the trunk and you are growing roots from your feet through the center of the earth. Feel and smell the fertile soil surrounding you.  Deepen the breath and chant the sound (LUM). As you chant the sound mantra squeeze the root lock (peritenium). On the exhalation continue to engage this area and then release. Repeat this breath chant with hold for several minutes. When you finish this meditation feel tall and strong and well rooted into the earth.

Feng Shui Tip For The Week:
Check your southeast portent closely for any clutter, broken items or activating devices such as wind chimes, mobiles or water fountains. The Dragon energy is rising now and combined with the 5 yellow problematic star for the year 2012 and the Grand Duke position makes eldest female vulnerable with hips, thighs and pelvic area. Remove activating devices, clear out any clutter and avoid any major renovations here. Add broanze metal element here and keep the area quiet.

The Pracice by the Dalai Lama

Practice for the New Millennium by the Dalai Lama
The Practice:

1. Spend 5 minutes at the beginning of each day remembering
we all want the same things (to be happy and be loved)
and we are all connected to one another.

2. Spend 5 minutes breathing in, cherishing yourself; and, breathing out
cherishing others. If you think about people you have difficulty cherishing,
extend your cherishing to them anyway.

3. During the day extend that attitude to everyone you meet.
Practice cherishing the "simplest" person (clerks, attendants, etc)
or people you dislike.

4. Continue this practice no matter what happens or what anyone does to you.

These thoughts are very simple, inspiring and helpful.
The practice of cherishing can be taken very deeply if done wordlessly,
allowing yourself to feel the love and appreciation that
already exists in your heart.

Enjoy your day!

How to Let Sound Put You in The Present Moment

How To Let Sound Put You in The Present Moment

Greetings!
This week BSA discusses How to Let Sound Put You in the Present Moment. Have you ever noticed the symphony of sounds in nature? Can you feel the vibration of these peaceful sounds travel through you? The next time you are rushing around and feeling stressed out take a moment and tune into the natural sounds that surround you. You'll be amazed how your body will immediately become relaxed. You'll wonder why you're rushing in the first place.
,

Open Your Ears and Become Present

The next time you take a walk in the neighborhood or the park let your body become fully aware of the present moment. You will begin to notice that your mind will identify each sound whether it is the whistling sound through the tops of trees, chipmunks rustling around the ground, birds chirping or even cars passing on the road.
What you will begin to notice is that you are hearing sounds that happen everyday but the difference is that you are tuned in and staying present rather than getting lost in your personal thoughts. Just as you allow the natural sounds of nature ease into your awareness and then leave, you can do the same with your thoughts.  As a result you can experience an internal quiet rather then noise.

Practice Hearing Meditations

When you take your walks from now on practce a hearing meditation by allowing the sounds to enter freely followed by a sense of gratitude. Invariably you will begin to see things more clearly, hear better, smell and even taste the moment. These are the simple things in life that are always present but not necessarily noticed. You'll find you become a part of each sound and each sound becomes a part of you. This is living in the moment at its best.
Try to use the sounds around you to access a quiet mind, whether you are outside in nature or in a the heart of the city. It doesn't make a difference the key is to open your sense of hearing fully and become a part of the sound. Hear with your entire body and allow the vibration of sound to resonate through your body. You will begin to notice the world swirling before you while your thoughts retreat. This is how you awaken your body and spirit to the present moment.

Namaste,
Mary Jane
