Self - Cultivation & Knowledge

Welcome to BSA - The Conscious Alignment of Energy
Welcome to Body Space Alignment  - The Conscious Alignment of Energy. November is the month of self-cultivation and knowledge. Air or vatta, is still on the move through the throat chakra (vishuddha), while the element of metal navigates us through the autumn season. Metal is compounded this month by the yin heavenly metal stem that gracefully flows into the water Pig branch. Let's put these energy concepts into perspective and see where your focus can benefit you most this month.

Still Like the Mountain:
Become still like the mountain is mindful meditation at its best. In Oahu, Hawaii, my daughter Christina is sitting in a perfect meditation posture as she prepares her physical body for a deeper progression to glimpse into the spirit sheath.  November is the month of the still mountain, or the trigram Gen. This trigram represents self-cultivation and knowledge. Inspirations from beyond this time and space occurs when we nurture the silence within. Open your mind and ask the sage within for assistance to receive insight and ageless wisdom. We can learn from books, but we gain wisdom through experience and delving deeper into higher self - where the spirit of God is revealed. This month, make it a practice of prayerful meditation. Find a quiet area of your home (preferable in the NE sector) of the entire home or a room, and set the environment for meditation practice. Include things like a meditation pillow, blanket, candles and whatever else feels peaceful to add to the d├ęcor. Spend at least 15 to 20 minutes in meditation and notice the difference you feel as you move through your day. Feel free to peruse my blog for many different articles about meditation and yoga practice.

Autumn in Full Swing:
Autumn is in full flow. This is the season of air (vatta), and the Chinese element of metal. Vatta corresponds to the throat chakra, a subtle energy point corresponding to communication and listening skills. This in essence blends perfectly with the trigram of Gen, or the stillness of the mountain. Take your communication and listening outside the realm of the earthly plane to the heavenly realm and tap into the streams between your will to ask for, and align with the blessings in your life. The truth manifests before you and magnified through the resonance of Divine Will harmonizing within the desires of your soul.
The element of metal represented by the autumn season is contractive - a pulling inward to witness true self. Just as the earth pulls inward to prepare for the colder months ahead, so too should we follow the whispers of nature that move with a natural progression.

Keep metal supported this season with the element of earth. Take a clean sweep of your home environment and make certain your earth points (Northeast, Southwest and Center) are balanced with strong earth elements. Assist your metal portents (West and Northwest), with metal qualities to keep mental awareness sharp.  (See any of my mini-feng shui series programs or any of my feng shui publications) for element design guidance.

The metal heavenly stem this month flows freely into the Pig earthly branch. The Pig is the sign of honesty, simplicity and great fortitude. This month apply yourself to an allotted task with all your strength. Get down to earth and be natural. Resist the urge to go overboard with eating, drinking and lavish treats. Albeit the boar can be gullible at times, he is smarter than you think. There is a scrupulous nature about the boar who is uncomfortable with ill-gotten gains. Therefore, there will be little tolerance for such behavior this month. Don't underestimate your enemies and overestimate your friends.

Journal your experience as you are guided through meditations from nature with Mary Jane's third book; Mother Nature a Bridge to Conscious Living.

Mindful Meditation Mondays!

Block Island

Welcome to Mindful Meditation Mondays! Cultivating mindfulness is the key to overcoming self imposed suffering. One of the best ways to nurture mindfulness is to sit in meditation. There are many different kinds of meditation to quiet the mind and body to produce and altered state of consciousness.

Mindful meditation is not about changing who we are but to become aware of what is already true. It's about being unconditionally present no matter what is happening around us. Mindful meditation helps us to go deeper within ourselves just as we are. By doing this we can get a glimpse of our inherent wisdom so we can stop beating ourselves up and continue suffering. Paying precise, nonjudgmental attention to ur experiences as they arise - the good with the bad, is the secret. We are not trying to hold onto the pleasurable things and avoid the painful. It's about practicing to be with these experiences equally.

When we are mindful we show up for our lives not be distracted by changing what is. So how can we be mindful in our meditation? There are three areas to take into consideration: the body, breath and mind. In short, the body is about how we set up our physical environment including the food we eat, the home and workplace, exercise, and people we surround ourselves with. Once these layers are balanced, then we can hone in on the meditation stage including the area we will sit and taking correct posture. Once we are stable in posture, the focus naturally falls to the breath. Simply being aware of the inhalation and the exhalation has a powerful impact in calming the mind. The quiet mind makes room to delve into the deeper layers where innate wisdom is revealed.

Feel Your Yoga Fridays!

Olympic National Park

Welcome to "Feel Your Yoga Fridays." Several years ago, my husband and I took a trip to the Pacific Northwest. We did a great deal of hiking throughout Olympic National Park. During one of our excursions, I decided to pull off my hiking gear and stand on this rock ledge to experience peaceful warrior. I wasn't too concerned with perfect alignment, but rather to experience the warrior within standing on a ledge that was high enough to be in the mist of clouds.

When we think about (Virabhadrasana), it is a name given to the mythical warrior Virabhadra. One of the main bases of yoga is non-violence so why do we practice a pose named after a warrior? The significance of this pose is that it shifts our attention to the fact that the real battle is the battle within us – our struggle with self-ignorance, false perceptions and distracted mind.

Practicing any of the warrior poses cultivates strong will and determination, openness and readiness to embrace higher values in life. The combination of determination and openness is the key point in our personal progress.

Tell Me the Energy Forecast Thursdays!

Photo by: Martha Geiger  - A Childhood Friend!

Tell Me the Energy Forecast Thursday! The energy forecast today takes into account a combination of 4 Pillars and Flying Star Astrology modalities. Today, the energy bodes well for starting a new job or assuming a new position at work, business transactions or dealings, and visiting friends.

The fire heavenly stem bodes well for new marketing strategies, speaking engagements and public presence. Collaborating with others is definitely an approach you should consider today, as the level of trust is readily available with fire fueling the earth dog branch. Loyalty is the main component of the dog branch. If you are in the middle of transacting a deal, try to wrap up any loose ends and close it out today to capture the dog energy!

The most powerful energetic points today come under the categories of finances and wealth, marketing and reputation, and partnerships. With proper networking and marketing strategies, windfalls can be the result. A few things to consider:

  • Review your long term strategy plan and make the necessary changes.
  • Make sure you are networking with those you consider mentors or people who will assist you along the path.
  • Tap into resources that are readily available to you from those who you trust most.
  • Review your real estate options and keep everything open for consideration.

Tip of the Day:  A single stick is easily broken, but not ten in a bundle. Focus on unity today!

Willful Meditation Wednesday!

Today, let's begin our meditation with willful breathing. The inquiry is: "How fully can I inhale; " and "How completely can I exhale. " Repeat this inquiry for several minutes and then fully relax. Feel the breath being free and effortless. Select an anchor in your mind to bring yourself back to the hear and now. Explore the sounds perhaps from the vibration of your breath as your anchor. Whatever your anchor is, know it will bring you back to the present moment. Try to experience your breath on the inside of your being. Visualize with every breath the heart being embraced and nurtured. Take that sensation of being nurtured deeper into your meditation. Let it flow out from heart center. Keep the focus around the heart and notice the sensations that may arise and then freely release those sensations. Stay with this willful breathing for at least 15 minutes before going about your day.

Deep Fall is Knocking at My Door!

Welcome to BSA - The Conscious Alignment of Energy
Albeit the weather is rather balmy here in the northeast, deep fall is knocking at the door! What many people do not realize is your front door is your face to the world. So, how does your face look?

One of the most asked questions when it comes to feng shui is facing direction. This can be very confusing  when you take into account the different architectural designs and placement of structure on the property. In my feng shui school, I devote an entire class module on determining facing direction and the steps involved in determining this. Let's take a sneak preview at at some of the things you can do to answer the knock on your door plus other feng shui points!

Mary Jane Kasliner

1. So what is my facing direction?
Most of the time the position of the front door is located on the yang side of the property - active side where the roadway (water element) is located. However, this isn't always the case. With that being said, a closer evaluation is essential. Part of that evaluation is to determine where the most energy is entering the structure, and yes, that could be a window. This is always the case in high rise apartment dwellings and many times in townhome configurations. You can find all the essential steps, protocol and configurations in Class 5 (Bagua Mechanics) and Class 7 (Healthy Spaces Part 1) of my online feng shui training course.

2. Rear Support:   The back of the home is just as important as the front. The rear acts as the mountain or main support configuration for the structure. There are many scenarios where the backyard can undermine the structure and impact health and wealth for the occupants. For example, a pool or pond too close to the structure or large waterway. Obviously the larger the waterway the more challenging it is to create a mountain-like structure for support. Modules 2 (Form School), 5 ( Bagua Mechanics) and 7 (Healthy Spaces) delve deeply into these scenarios.

3. Landscaping - Form & Attracting Beneficial Energy: The supporting elements in attracting beneficial energy has many components. The land is one of the most important dynamics when it comes to supporting health for the occupants. Ninety-nine percent of feng shui is about the land. Poor land quality and topography makes for great feng shui challenges and ultimately obstacles encountered by the occupants. If you are in the stages of looking for land or building, this is the time to hire a feng shui master. There is nothing more important than healthy land. Module 8 (Dowsing and Earth Acupuncture) is a detailed course on how to walk the land and determine geopathic problems that impact health. Module 2 (Landform) and Module 7 (Healthy Spaces) take into account the topography and landscaping ideas to attract and accumulate auspicious energy to circulate your property and home.  Green Living Design Module 10 has a complete landscaping component using xerioscaping techniques. At the very least, choose land that is on a quieter roadway, supportive in the rear without drop off points, open in the front with supportive sides (Tiger side lower than the Dragon). Look for strong vegetation and fine tune with attractive varied heights in bushes and other plants.

4. Front Door and other Door Components: The front door is the mouth of chi, by and large. Therefore, it behooves you to make this a fantastic work of art. A few things to consider are:

5. Type of Energy Flowing In: The type of energy flowing into the structure and circulating has many impact points. One of the most powerful points is the year the structure was built combined with the facing direction. This gives, if you will, a birth chart for the home. This is how a trained feng shui consultant in advance theories can pinpoint quality energy points to open up elementally in design, and negative points to shield or quiet down with other design implementation. This is part of my advance training series - Flying star that is available to those students who complete the intermediate training level.

6. What Comes After the Front Door? Once the energy enters the structure there is a multitude of information that resides within the walls of your home. Everything from design materials incorporated, to color choices and visuals in artwork and accessory items impact how you experience life. The physical structure is the macrocosm of the temple that houses your soul. Choose wisely, as the impact drives the momentum of your experiences. Modules 1-10 in my course training program guide you through this journey!
