Patience ~ Confucius

Patience ~ Confucius

Do not be desirous of having things done quickly. Do not look at small advantages. Desire to have things done quickly prevents their being done thoroughly. Looking at small advantages prevents great affairs from being accomplished.

This is a wonderful quote from Confucius. All too often today we feel rushed to meet deadlines or to simply check more items off our list. The reality is when we rush we fight against the natural rhythm of life and timing for things to be completed. When we force the issue we only experience anxiety, fear and indecision. Patience has immediate results and those results can be seen with peace of mind, confidence, and ease in making decisions.

When we allow the necessary time to complete a task great things can be the result. So try moving towards your true self and let go of trying to finish things quickly.

Have a patient filled day!

Yoga ~ An Ancient Practice

Yoga ~ An Ancient Practice

To the ancients, yoga is a complete system, of which the postures are a small aspect of the practice. Yoga, referred to as the whole, is spiritual in nature according to the sages.

In modern times, the position of the postures has been elevated to move to the forefront. Because of this many people think of yoga as being a physical practice only. In other words, the Whole and the Part have reversed position. Remember, the actual concept behind yoga is that the asanas or postures are only Part of the process or practice. The greater essence or purpose of yoga is to prepare the body (through the postures) to sit in meditation and connect to true self. This is why it is so important to meditate at the end of your yoga postures and then build upon that routine of meditation until it becomes a daily practice.

Connecting to true self or spirit is the goal behind your yogic journey. Don't minimize that aspect of your practice as it is the branch and root to this ancient discipline.

May you build on your practice, seek inner knowledge, and grow beyond your imagination.

The Earth's wisdom

The Earth's Wisdom

Earth and sky, woods and fields, lakes and rivers, the mountain and the sea, are excellent schoolmasters, and teach some of us more than we can ever learn from books."
~John Lubbock

Butchart Gardens ~ British Columbia ~ 8/2011

What a beautiful and profound quotation. The ancient sages learned from their surrounding environment. The mountains, rivers, lakes, valleys, trees, rocks, soil, the moon and sun, stars and planets. All man needs can be obtained from mother earth and father sky. The question remains...How much time are you willing to take out of your busy schedule to spend some time with mother earth and all of her blessings? The answers you seek are waiting for you to discover. Begin with your surrounding environment. Listen to that voice within and I am sure you will discover exactly what is is you are looking for.

Finding Peace in Nature

“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.” ~John Muir

Have you ever experience a sense of profound peace and spiritual renewal in nature? Chances are you have. Recently, my husband and I set out for the Pacific Northwest to take in the sites that this country embodies. The experience was one of a life-time and will be permanently etched in my mind and spirit.
I truly understand now how the ancient sages developed their wisdom. Spending the greater part of their life not only surrounded by nature but being a part of it, living it, breathing it and listening to it. Today, man is consumed with "the noise" or technology that demands his attention. Albeit technology makes for comfort and convenience, it also detracts from the simple things in life. It is in the simplicity that wisdom is found. Why not take some time out in your day and simplify, get outside and "be" with nature, look, listen, feel, smell and touch it. I'm sure you will find your day to be more peaceful.

What is Enlightenment?

Pacific Northwest ~ Recent Trip

What is the state of Cosmic Consciousness? The ultimate awareness is referred to as enlightenment, nirvana, samadhi, self-realization, rapture, ascension and unity consciousness. It is the goal of life for every human being to reach this state of awareness. It is brought about when the illusionary perception of separateness comes together into the Universal Self.

Our true nature is not limited but rather a vast sea, as we are everywhere. How can we achieve this state? The easiest way is to follow those before us who have paved the way. The sages, the saints, and ascended masters of all times found this path. Following the guidance and words of a previous teacher or guru. The enlightened master sees the grand achievement and encourages others to find this treasure.

Take time everyday to follow one word of wisdom from an ascended master and we shall all reach that state of consciousness.
