Willful Meditation Wednesdays!

Willful Meditation Wednesdays!

Last week the focus for meditation was the breath. Today, try a technique called the "Body Scan." Just as the title suggests, you will focus on the sensations in your body to meditate. First, find a comfortable position and quiet place where you will not be disturbed. Yes, that means shutting down your cell phone. Pay attention to the physical sensations in your body. Start from the top of your head and just notice what is happening. Slowly move your attention to your neck, upper body, arms and hands. Check in with each sensation you notice. You are just witnessing the sensations, leave the judge and jury out it. Continue to move your awareness down the body. When you get to the floor, reverse the direction and slowly move back up your body. Once again, just witness the sensations without staying too long in one area and thinking about it. Continue this process several times for at least a 15 minute duration. Upon completion of this meditation, you should sense a level of freedom and peace.
